Hi,
i will like to be able to send audio files to mobile phones using MMS and my investigations lead me to NowSMS. What i would like to know is, if I dont want to use a GSM/GPRS modem to send the MMS, what other (good) choices do i have. Is there any good sms/mms service provider on the web that can send the MMS to phones in the UK. I have seen some but they dont seems to support mms and none are returning calls or emails.

This informtion is quite important to me as a new business take off is solely resting on the ability to send audio files to mobile phone. I just need to know if it can really be done and the best way to do it. If using a GSM/GPRS modem seems to be the only way to do this, what modem do u recommend or if anybody have used one that performs well, they can please tell me. all help will be much appreciated.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I can't help you if they're not returning phone calls or e-mails.

I think overall there's a problem in this business ... more inquiries than most providers are equipped to handle.

Using a GSM/GPRS modem is a workable solution, but it's all going to be sender pays (you). If that works with your business model, you can go that route, and perhaps move to a provider at a later date.

Another alternative to MMS is using WAP Push. It gets sent out over regular SMS, so you can often integrate it with premium rate SMS providers. Of course, you can also send out WAP Push using a GSM modem, which you might want to do first to evaluate whether or not it is workable for your content. (Try the "Multimedia WAP Push" functionality in NowSMS to get started.)

The Siemens MC35 Terminal is a time tested GSM modem, it works quite well. Wavecom modems are very good, but somewhat difficult to source in small quantities. Since you're just sending messages, you might want to try a phone first to do some experimentation while you continue your provider search. There is discussion of compatible phones to use as a modem here: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/4218.html (Just note that using a phone as a modem, you cannot receive MMS in NowSMS ... send only. To receive requires a dedicated modem device.)
