Hello,

I try to make the MMS MO (or MMS-IN) runs (i.e. to receive an MMS from a Phone) using a phone interface/modem (final goal is to forward the incoming phone MMS to my mail). I'm not sure my mobile phones are compatible (I tried with SE-Z1010, Samsung Z500, ...). Do you have a list of compatible mobile that I can use ? I there a very simple way to determine whether the phone/modem is compatible or not ?

Best regards,

Fabien

P.S: I try to look that into details to understand why. My current way to determine whether a phone is compatible or not is:
1 - open an hyperterminal
2 - launch AT+CNMI=2,3,0,0,0
3 - send an MMS from another phone to the modem
4 - Check the terminal until I receive something

For the moment, the terminal I tested are compatible only for SMS, but the MMS notif pdu is never received. Please help me to find a way to check NowMMS MMS-MO compatible phones ...

Hi Fabien,

I am not aware of any mobile phone that, when acting as a modem, can forward MMS notification PDUs over the GSM modem interface.

The problem is that the MMS (and/or WAP Push) client in the mobile phone intercepts the notification, such that it is never sent to the mobile phone.

I have seen a couple of mobile phones where a stray notification occasionally was received, but even on those devices, it was the exception, not the norm.

So, the bottom line is that if you need to receive MMS messages, we always recommend using a dedicated GSM/GPRS modem device (e.g., Siemens MC35 Terminal, Multitech, Wavecom, Sierra Wireless Aircard, etc.) where there can be no MMS or WAP Push client getting in the way.

There is some discussion of modems in the following thread:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/4218.html

Please note that some PC card modems (Nokia D211/D311 come to mind) do not support receiving SMS on the GSM modem interface, which will also block their ability for MMS receive.

If you have questions about any particular modem model, try searching on our forum, as that might yield some information.

First, let me thanks you for your answer.
Second, let me reformulate what you said: It is possible to receive MMS using a "Siemens MC35 Terminal" as a GSM/GPRS modem.
But what I still don't understand is how do we receive the MMS notification ? (This notif is necesarry in order to fetch the MMS content from the MMS-C, insn't it ?)

You configure the "Receive MMS" settings in NowSMS to tell it how to retrieve the messages from the mobile operator. This is described in the following link:

http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/ProductDocumentation/mms_notifications_and_c ontent/Connecting_to_operator_MMSC.htm#UsingGPRS

And settings for some mobile operators can be found in the following thread:
