When a phone sends an MMS text with an attached movie clip at or around the max MMS file size of 595 KB it is never downloaded from AT&T’s server to my NowSMS gateway server. The text is received by the gateway, but the clip is never downloaded for some reason. I know it’s not a carrier problem because I can send the exact same clip to another phone via mms with no problems. I can still send small pics and movies at around 100-200 KB with no problems. Any ideas whats the problem?

Also I am using a Windows XP SP3 machine and Globetrotter 3G modem (Quicksilver) from AT&T.

Try changing the WAP Gateway IP address in the "Receive MMS Settings" from:

66.209.11.61

to

http://66.209.11.32:8080

(It may seem counter-intuitive, but leave the "http://" prefix in there like I have above.)

The default operator settings in our configuration dialog are WAP1/WSP based, and there can be issues with content larger than 300KB. This alternative configuration would bypass any limits that might be present because of WAP1/WSP.

Hey Des,

That seemed to be the problem. Made the change to the MMS settings and it is downloading the >300 KB clips just fine.

Thanks!

Chris
