Hi,

How can be prevented that messages coming from a VASPIN take a VASPOUT route instead of limiting messages to local users?
OBS: we've configured default route to be "block/reject message" and added a route with correct numbering mask (ie. route "ancel" to 5989???????) in order to avoid malformed destinations from appearing.
NowSMS configured this way doesn´t show up route "ancel" in MMSC VASP tab, option "Force via defined route", in order to avoid other routes to be taken by messages coming from VASP.

Thank you,
Gonzalo

Hi Gonzalo,

This has been bothering me for awhile. A lot of our MMSC customers have number portability issues which force them to use the MMS routing callbacks.

They use the "VASPIN" parameter in the routing callback (http://blog.nowsms.com/2008/04/mobile-number-portability-mnp-and.html) to decide whether or not to allow the message to be routed.

However, I do think we should have a built-in VASPIN account attribute to apply this limitation without requiring routing callbacks to be implemented. Such an option should allow local delivery and convert to SMS with web link, but block routing to any other outbound connections.

I have also forwarded this request to engineering.

Hi again,

thank you for the information. I will try to implement "routing callback" in the mean time.

Best regards,
Gonzalo

Hi Gonzalo,

A routing configuration option has been added to an "MMSC VASP" (VASPIN) definition: "Local MMS Recipients Only".

This setting means that a message that arrives via this VASPIN route cannot be routed out via another VASPOUT route.

When this setting is used, Conversion to SMS with web link is still allowed (for supporting legacy handsets or handsets that have not been properly enabled/configured for MMS).

What is not allowed is messages that require external routing.

I realize that this does not address your follow-up issue discussed in another thread (http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/59882.html), where you also want to prohibit conversion to SMS with web link.

Unfortunately, SMS with web link users are also considered local recipients, which complicates this issue. We are still investigating methods to address this.

The update that adds the configuration setting that I've described is at:
