Hi
We have got a trouble with the ACK request from MM4 operator.
As their MMSC request an ack ( ack smtp )for MMS, our MMSC respond to the source with email but MMSC use the smtp that are configured with the feature mms to email instead of responding to the IP adress of the source.
Trouble is that the domain name the other operator use , is internal and doesn't exist on internet. so our SMTP server has got 10 000 messages rejected per day due to ack.
is it possible to configure an email domain name or IP per operator for the ack especially the X-Mms-Message-Type: MM4_forward.RES.
On the pcap trace of the MM4_forward.RES you can see that mmsc will respond to mmscadm@mms.srr.fr but by using the smtp server configure for mms to email instead of responding to the MM4 source that initiate the MM4_delivery_report.REQ
thx for you advice ,
Br
Marc

Hi Marc,

Can you please tell me what version of the MMSC you are running? (So I can look to see if there any issues specific to your version.)

Also, in the "MMSC VASP" definition that defines the inbound processing for these messages, is the "MM4 Ack Route" set correctly? (If this isn't set, then the ACK goes out using regular SMTP routing, which sounds like what is happening in your configuration.)

Hi
Thx for advice.
our MMSC version is v2010.01.06
By the way , we don't have MMSC VASP configure for this routage.
the routing is in mmsc routing, on which we have configured an MM4

Hi Marc,

The "MMSC VASP" side defines the receiving side of the connection, that is to say, how your system authenticates the other MMSC that is sending messages to you.

The system doesn't know how to send the MM4 ACK back to that other system unless the "MMSC VASP" (receive/inbound side) definition points to an "MMSC Routing" (send/outbound side).

So I guess what I'm saying is that if you don't have an "MMSC VASP" account defined, you need one.

The following link should help answer some questions:
