Hi I would like to know if it's possible to use multiple certificates for one nowsms installation. Reason for it is browser won't complain / prompt warning on different certificate name used while accessing different IP interface of the same machine. Wildcard certificate is expensive and not an good option as I only need two names. Thanks. | |||

Hi Eric, Unfortunately there is no facility to use a different SSL certificate for a different IP address. This is outside my area of expertise, but instead of a wildcard certificate, you might be able to use a certificate that includes alternative host names (subject alternative name). You'd have to generate a request for such a certificate outside of NowSMS ... and unfortunately I'm not really sure of the process of doing that. What I do know is that at startup NowSMS loads its SSL key from SSL.KEY (if you do try to generate your own certificate outside of NowSMS, best to do so with a key generated by NowSMS ... subject to the 2048 bit issue I mentioned in http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/69992.html). It then loads SSL.CA as its certificate file, if it exists, otherwise it uses SSL.CRT (the latter normally being a self-signed version, whereas SSL.CA is signed by a CA). -- Des NowSMS Support |
