Hi all,

I'm trying to get my HUAWEI modem to work (E156G). At the moment it keeps disconnecting after a couple of hours. I read upon a fix in SMSGW.INI:

1. Edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] header, try adding ModemMaxBytesPerSend=1

2. Edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [Modem - your driver name] header, add OldPollingLogic=Yes

3. Use the "Reboot system if this modem is not accessible" option to reboot if the modem goes offline. (You say this is not working, and I'd like to know more about this. What version of Windows? What version of NowSMS? Can I see an SMSDEBUG.LOG?)

But I can't find my SMSGW.INI file, where can it be found?
I want to try if these setting fix my modem problems. Are there any other solutions?
I tried installing "Mobile partner" to fix the issue but the problem is that it prevents NowSMS from receiving the messages so I can't use it.

Thanks

For most versions of Windows, you will find SMSGW.INI in the ProgramData/NowSMS directory.

Except Windows XP, where it is in Program Files/NowSMS.

The reboot option can be configured under Properties for the modem in the SMSC list.

One other note, you might find the information in this article helpful as it details similar problems and solution with a similar modem from Huawei: http://www.nowsms.com/sms-and-mms-with-the-huawei-e160-usb-modem
