Hi,

Sometimes, when NowSMS software cannot connect to the gateway modem, there will be a error message appearing with red color, saying: Cannont connect to a 36000bps modem...etc..

Does NowSMS software support the function such that when NowSMS connects modem failed, system would send email to a configed email account to notify this error,like a function of 2-way to trigger a event when receiving a message?

Hi,

Yes, e-mail alerts for this event can be configured in the alerts section. A modem that is not responding and cannot be recovered is considered an "error alert".

For more information on configuring alerts, see http://www.nowsms.com/doc/system-settings/event-log-and-system-alerts

Also ...

If this is a USB modem, and the modem is locked up, there may be no alternative other than to reboot the PC. For a USB device, this triggers a restart of the device.

NowSMS 2010 and later have a configuration option "Reboot if this modem is not accessible" that can be applied to a modem. To find this option, select the modem from the "SMSC" list and press "Properties".

Unfortunately, NowSMS Lite does not support the e-mail alerts.

However, NowSMS Lite does support the option to reboot when a modem error cannot be recovered by software resets.

It is necessary to directly edit the SMSGW.INI file (normally in ProgramData\NowSMS, except under Windows XP where it is in the program directory).

Edit the file with a text editor such as NOTEPAD.

Locate the section header that has configuration details on the modem, such as [Modem - Standard 33600bps Modem], and under this header, add:

RebootOnModemError=Yes
