Hello,

I have met some troubles on MMS traffic since few days. Indeed, we had many failures with this type of traffic.

1/ MM1 :
The wap gateway raised the error logs :

"Winsock Error 10061 -- 94.198.180.220:80" => the MMSC IP address and port

"Error: Timeout waiting for response from content server"

4/ MM4

The broker in charge of this service complains and raised us some messages rejected and some connections refused :
Trying 94.198.180.220...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

However, the event logs shows that the system is in listening to the port 25 and 80.

Thanks for help

Hi David,

What version of NowSMS are you running?

What does CPU utilisation look like on the MMSC?

Go into Windows Task Manager, make sure that show processes for all users is enabled. Is the MMSC.EXE process running? Does it disappear and reappear?

Hello,

The current version is v2010.02.09.

The CPU usage is between 2% and 8%.

The following processes are visible into the task manager :

mmscnt.exe
mmsc.exe
smsgw.exe
smsgwnt.exe
smsgws.exe

Yes, the MMSC.EXE is process running and yes it disappears and reappars.

Hi David,

Ok. I suspect you are encountering a problem related to the "Convert to SMS with Web Link" facility.

Are you using the UndeliverableRouteToSMS setting in MMSC.INI? If so, as a temporary relief, remove this setting.

If I recall correctly, there was a particular formatting error, that if present in an MMS message, could trigger a problem in this conversion process. That is most likely the problem that you are experiencing.

Before restoring that setting, I would suggest the update referenced in the following article: http://www.nowsms.com/nowsms-update-2011-03-21

(Alternatively if your license key rejects that update, and needs a 2010 version, use the version referenced here: http://www.nowsms.com/update-patch-2010-11-26)

Hello,

I don't use the UndelivaerableRouteToSMS setting into the MMSC.INI.
So, the MMSCDEBUG.LOG is also reseted each minute approximatively.

We met these troubles since a server reboot not expected due to an issue on the power energy.

I thought to install the update patch version 2010.11.26 in order to correct an another issue posted in this forum.

Is there some pre-requisite to install this patch or i can download file on the computer with my current installation is running on. This will automatically upgrade the software to the latest version?

Thanks for help

Hi David,

Ok, the problem may be related to a corrupt file after server reboot.

Go ahead and install version 2010.11.26. There is no prerequisite, the installer will update the software to that version.

If the problem persists, please enable the MMSCDEBUG.LOG (checkbox on Serial # page). Let it run for a few minutes, then copy the MMSCDEBUG.LOG and MMSCDEBUG.BAK files. E-mail those files to nowsms@nowsms.com and put Attention: Des in the subject line. (Post a reply here too so that I know to go look for them.)

I will be unavailable for about an hour, but I will look at those files when I get back to try to determine what files may be having problems.

Hello,

I installed the version 2010.11.26 this morning and the system is stable now. I made some checks and some tests. They are positive.

I have just waited a confirmation from the other operator that they receive the MM4.RES with the /" characters changed to ".".

Thanks for your help
