Hello, i am all very new to this and i was wondering what was the best kind of phone to use. i have my Nokia 7210 on contract, and old nokia 7650 and an even older 7110 phone. are there any advantages of using differnt phones. and which would be best to use.

It wouldnt matter too much if i had to buy a new mobile and a data cable. Basically what does the average user use?

thanks

Hi Dave,

It depends on what you want to do ... what functionality you want.

The Nokia 7110 was pretty good as a GSM modem, but that phone doesn't support GPRS, which you might need if you want to send MMS.

As I remember, the Nokia 7650 was a little flaky in the type of cable that it requires. If my memory is correct, Nokia doesn't support a cable on that device, and you have to buy one that is sort of a "hack job". Plus the 7650 is a Nokia Series 60 device, and Series 60 devices let you send messages only, they don't let you receive messages via the GSM modem interface (all received messages are intercepted and trapped by the phone software).

For that reason, of the devices that you mention, I'd probably go with the 7210.
