We've started to publish a series of technical bulletins on-line about the Now SMS/MMS Gateway. These bulletins are documents that describe advanced features of the Now SMS/MMS Gateway, or that clarify configuration options. These technical bulletins can be found on-line via a link under the "FAQ" page, or by a direct link to http://www.nowsms.com/tb. Most of the initial technical bulletins cover new features of the v4.11 release of the Now SMS/MMS Gateway, but we also plan to add additional topics in the future. The initial set of tech bulletins include: Now SMS/MMS Accounting Callbacks This document defines accounting callbacks that can be used to integrate the Now SMS/MMS gateway with external accounting systems. The Now SMS/MMS Gateway can be configured to check for authorisation before accepting an SMS or MMS message for delivery, and also to notify an accounting system after the gateway has accepted a submitted message. Now MMSC Operator Considerations This document explains considerations for deploying the Now MMSC in an operator environment, with a particular focus on user provisioning and user MSISDN identification. 2-Way SMS Returning a Non-Text Response This document explains a technique for returning a non-text message in response to a received SMS message via a 2-way SMS command. Using Port 80 on a PC running IIS This document explains considerations for configuring the Now SMS/MMS Gateway to use the standard web port (port 80) on a PC that is also running Microsoft Internet Information Server, but is configured with multiple IP addresses. Provisioning MMSC User Accounts via HTTP This document explains an HTTP based interface for provisioning MMSC user accounts to compliment the existing menu driven "MMSC Admin" interface. Faster GSM Modem Speeds with SMS over GPRS This document describes how "SMS over GPRS" can be used to achieve transmission speeds of 30 messages per minute with GSM/GPRS modems, a speed that is 3 to 5 times faster that available with conventional SMS over GSM. With the v4.11 release of the Now SMS/MMS Gateway, the GSM modem interface has been optimised to support faster message transmission, particularly when used on devices and networks that support SMS over GPRS. | |||
