We get it. NowSMS is a powerful SMS and MMS gateway…but it requires its own server…and let’s face it…not everyone has the time to be an IT Expert. That’s why we’re offering a cloud edition of NowSMS.

For a small monthly fee, we’ll provision a NowSMS server, accessible via a unique secure SSL/TLS enabled web address. You configure one or more Android phones to connect to this cloud server. All messages are sent and received via the Android phone(s). No additional service provider subscriptions are required. The Android phone requires a standard SIM card that has been activated with a messaging plan appropriate for your messaging requirements.

SMS and MMS messages can be sent and received via a web interface or via e-mail. Applications can send and receive SMS and MMS messages using standard protocols, such as HTTP and SMPP, or using API examples for Java, PHP, .NET or command-line interfaces.

We’re still working on more documentation to explain how it works, but we believe the best way to understand it is to try it for yourself.

As a first step, visit our NowSMS Cloud Edition demo site. The demo site allows you to explore the capabilities and options that are available.

Next, explore our API Information, which details how to interface with PHP, Java, VB.NET, C#.NET, ASP.NET, or other HTTP based interfaces.

Assuming that it all still looks too good to be true, you’ll want to try it for yourself. That’s why we offer a free 2 week trial. Get an Android phone ready, and then use the form at https://www.nowsms.com/cloud to provide us with a few details about yourself. We’ll provision a server for you to try it for yourself.

Hi,

We purchased NowSMS modem for $ 75 just 1 week before but we are not able to see WAP Push, Class 0,1,2 3 message options. Already we had discussions via mail with the support team, they replied that those options would be available only in Stand alone NowSMS server.

Could you please help us in installing Stand alone NowSMS server.

Regards,
Menaka P

Hi,

30-day trial versions of our downloadable software can be found at the "Free Trial" link at the top of this page. Now SMS/MMS Gateway is the software that you would be looking for. This software is installed and runs on a server that you provide and that is completely under your control.

There is a variety of documentation under the "Documentation" link, also at the top of the page. Installation/setup can be rather complex, but this old quick start guide may be helpful if you are trying to use a modem to send messages: http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/quickstartguide/NowSMSQuickStart1.pdf

IMPORTANT NOTE: Binary SMS (including WAP Push) and/or special message attributes (including message class, protocol ID, data coding scheme) are NOT supported when using an Android device as a modem or SMSC connection.

To send these types of SMS messages would require a different type of SMSC connection, such as an SMPP connection to a provider. (Not all SMS providers support binary SMS formats, so you would need to confirm this support with a provider.) Alternatively, a GSM modem can be connected to the NowSMS server using USB...note that I am referring to a dedicated modem device, not a phone. (Note that some mobile operators block WAP Push messages from being sent by a modem, so this is something you need to try in your environment. This is one of the reasons why we offer trial versions of our products.)
