Hi Des, I just have questions on sending/recieving MMS via Email: 1.From the Now SMS web interface how can I send MMS message to an Email user? On Web interface, you can only put in a Mobile number but not an email address. I comes out with an error : invalid parameter (invalid format of telephone number). Is there any other way of sending an MMS message to an email user? 2. If an email user wants to send an MMS or SMS message on the GSM modem that is using NowSMS, how do I set that up so that I can receive that message from an Email user on my Now SMS? Thanks. | |||

Hi Powertec, E-mail configuration is somewhat complicated. It gets more complicated because there are quite a few different usage scenarios for NowSMS. I'm going to focus on your questions above as a starting point. 1.) I suppose we could allow you to submit an MMS message from the web form to an e-mail address, we just figured that there was little point in doing that. And it would get confusing on larger NowSMS configurations with multiple types of MMSC connections. The issue is that you don't really send an MMS message to an e-mail address. If you do this from a mobile phone, the operator MMSC is going to convert the message from MMS format to e-mail format. The e-mail user doesn't receive an MMS message, they receive an e-mail message. The original MMS content has been converted/transcoded into an e-mail format. 2.) There's a pretty good explanation of this in the following thread: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/24895.html Basically, NowSMS looks like an SMTP mail server. The problem is, these days, most places don't run their own SMTP servers, so a lot of the lingo looks foreign. Hi Des, Some of the customers we are looking at would like to send SMS/MMS from the NOWsms server to an email client. That is why we need an address bar on the NOWsms web interface where we can put an email address and/or a mobile number. Can the free NOWsms software capable of doing that? I still cannot setup my NOWsms to recieve and send an SMS or MMS. Do you have an instruction on how to set this up? | |||
