I am new to the world of mass SMS services. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps a newbie. I was looking online, and i can't find where i can register my own account with SMS service center to send out mass SMSs. I also discovered GSM modem option, but i am not sure how much volume it can support. Does anyone know? At what point (volume) i need to switch from GSM modem to SMS Service center direct line. Thanks again

Hi there. You can connect directly to an operator's SMSC or (easier and cheaper) you can connect to a Messaging Gateway. These gateways provide you mobile network access (generally by connectig to a whole set of operators and/or other gateways). If you search the web for these keywords I'm sure you'll find lots of info. You may have national gateways (depending on which country you'r from) either way there are some companies working on a global level. Check these out: www.clickatell.com, www.mobile365.com, www.simplewire.com, www.netsize.com, www.truesenses.com, www.infobip.com. If you want to connect directly to the SMSC, I guess you must contact the operator (most of the time, not a good option unless you are a Messaging Gateway Company).

These solutions require you to devolp an application for sending SMS. If you're just interested in sending mass messages, there are companies that provide web applications, for instance, that can do this for you. They let you manage contacts, alerts, periodicity, etc. Search for something like 'Bulk Messaging'...

I've never worked with a GMS Modem.

I'm not far from being a newbie as well but I hope I gave you some hints...
