I did note a previous thread about this topic, but it left several questions unanswered for me.

I currently have IP connectivity (via SMTP, HTTP etc) to several different SMS 'gateway' aggregators which provide me with the ability to send and receive SMS messages at volume levels.

I want to see if it's technically possible to use Now SMS/MMS gateway as a private SMSC. That is, I host the SMSC on my server which has IP connectivity to the network SMSCs via the SMS gateway aggregator. I then want a group of my customers to change their SMS message centre number on their mobiles to the number 'assigned' to me by the SMS aggregator This number is a 'big number' - standard UK mobile number vformat - which routes inbound MO messages to my server. I can then forward/process replies via my outbound MT path, and 'spoof' the originator details where/if necessary.

What was the need for access to SS7 signalling?

cheers - Simon
