Hi,

Sorry this is a reply to an old message, but I had trouble keeping up with postings for a couple of weeks.

There's lots of phone advice here:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/4218.html

I don't recall your issues with the Nokia 6610/6610i ... but based upon the specs, those devices should work for sending/receiving SMS.

The Nokia 6630 is a "Series 60" (S60) device, and its GSM modem interface only supports sending SMS, not receiving SMS.

The Nokia 2650 is a lower end phone, and I don't think it supports a GSM modem interface.

The Samsung issues seem to be discussed in another thread (http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/15358.html), where it seems that messages that start with "*" (and possibly some other special characters) are received as corrupt by the modem.

And ... although you don't ask about it ... I wouldn't suggest trying a Motorola phone as a modem, because they have a bug that stops them from being able to send WAP Push. (Unless recent firmware or models from Motorola have resolved this problem, our experience has been that they have a bug that prevents them from sending any SMS messages that include user data header, including long text, EMS and WAP Push.)

So what does that leave?

Personally, I've used SonyEricsson phones as modems for years.

I started with an Ericsson R520, then Ericsson T68 ... then SonyEricsson T68i, T610, T630, K700, K750, W800. I haven't seen any bizarre issues with any of those devices (except that the K750 and W800 don't like to be disconnected and reconnected from a USB cable on some machines ... if you disconnect/reconnect the modem is not accessible again until you reboot).

I have a Sony Ericsson 520a phone and I moticing that when I send a message from the web interface to my phone, I see the following:
1. I get an error corrupt message.
2. I get duplicate messages notifications (all corrupted).
3. I finally get my message after many corrupted ones, and I see alot of "Echo" before my original text.

Can you tell me what is wrong? Is it the phone?

Hi Eddy,

As I mentioned in reply to your other post ... I need A LOT MORE information in order to understand your configuration.

Are you sending an SMS message or an MMS message? (If it is an MMS message, then please see http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm.)

What is your SMSC connection?

An SMSDEBUG.LOG would be helpful so that I could have some clue as to what you are trying to send and how you are trying to send it. The SMSDEBUG.LOG is enabled in the "Serial #" page of the configuration dialog.
