In search of GSM modem

I am in search of gsm modem. I 0 ant to install a sms gateway software ans need a gsm modem for this purpose. I have been looking for it all over the place.. and am very confused.. which one i right? which one will work? some cost up to $400 and some $10 (on ebay)

Can anyone tell m the names of models that are good and affordable?
