Hi,

I'm not 100% sure where to put this as it relates to MMS in general as well as Now SMS/MMS Gateway - so please move if necessary.

I'm trying to find a way whereby I can send audio files (currently in .wav format) to any handset on any network (in the UK). At this point I am assuming that the handsets will all be set up to receive MMS messages - although I know this isn't likely as I only got my head around the setting up process once I looked into this area in more detail.

I understand the different compatibility issues with differing handset manufacturers and networks - and so far I have been using the WURFL Mobile Device Information app (http://wurfl.sourceforge.net/utilities/m_dev_inf.php) to determine whether the handset I am sending to will be able to receive the file. Currently it seems that Nokia phones will only accept amr files, but I am unsure about all the other handset makes (Ericsson/Sagem etc.)

Does anyone know another source of information similar to the WURFL, as it seems to suggest some Nokia phones can receive MP3 files even though that hasn't been possible in my own tests (Nokia 6670/N70).

My second question relates to the Now SMS/MMS Gateway. My basic understanding of it is that after connecting a mobile to it (Nokia 6670/N70/Ericsson K750i) I can create an MMS message on screen and send it through my phone (the idea being that it is sent through my network as if I were to create it on the phone itself). Does the Now SMS/MMS Gateway have any functions whereby you can select the handset you are sending to and be provided with info about any compatibility issues? I only ask as I have read elsewhere on the site and about wav to amr conversion.

I know the program itself is very technical, but if I know that it would possibly be useful to me I am prepared to sit down and use what knowledge I do have to work through it.

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks

Jack
