Hi all,

I've recently (for Christmas ) had a new Orange Pay As You Go Sagem MYX-6.

I love the phone and have had no problems with it except for the MMS and GPRS. I'm not very technical when it comes to mobile phones but followed the entire guide to setting these things up. One of the first things I tried was sending a photo to a guy who has the exact same phone as myself. Every time I tried to send it, the message on the screen came up as "failure". I had a feeling this had something to do with my GPRS so I set that up according to the guide and every time I try to access GPRS it says "Network not responding". I visited the Orange website and even sent an email to the technical enquiries and they told me exactly everything I already knew. I've also tried to send it using the GSM setting, which makes some difference, as the message seems to start to send, but even after half an hour of waiting it hadn't gone through.

I was quite hoping that someone on this board knows what I'm doing wrong.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Will

Hi Will,

It almost sounds like the phone isn't provisioned for GPRS. Can you use the browser on the phone at all?

NowMMS and OrangeMMS work fine. (I have a P900).

You need to use a different service centre URL address. Change the phone to use 'Orange GPRS WAP' as the WAP account - and the 'Automatic' field should be set to 'Off'.

If you leave 'Automatic' set to 'Home' then an error is displayed. Upon sending. Similarly if you do not change the WAP account then an error is displayed.

I think Orange operate 2 WAP gateways - one dedicated for IP, the other dedicated to MMS (hence the Orange GPRS WAP and Orange MMS options in the 'WAP Account' field).
The first WAP gateway is open to all IP addresses - the MMS gateway however has a restricted DNS server which prevents access to IP addresses other than the MMS gateways of 'known' mobile telephone operators with whom Orange has an agreement to share revenue charging.

Hi!
I bought a Sagem my-X7 about a month ago and I'm currently having the same problem. It seems picture messages are sent on the phone's own accord and WAP refuses to work. Does anyone know how to fix it???
Thanks
