I want to purchase an SMPP link from a telecom company to send bulk SMS. Currently I have 10 GSM modems I use to send SMS (all of them use a regular long number called MSISDN). My question is if I purchase a single short code to go along with my SMPP account, can I mask the outgoing SMS to reflect the originating number to any of my existing 10 numbers (regular MSISDs).

To reiterate the question, I want the "originating number" to be a regular long number rather than a short code for messages sent over SMPP through a telecom company. Is this technically possible?

Technically ... yes.

HOWEVER, whether or not you are allowed to do this depends on the policies of your SMS provider and/or the mobile operator.

In many cases, mobile operators do not want others to have the ability to spoof an SMS so that it appears to have been received from one of their subscriber's phone numbers. If this is the case, they will have policies and/or commercial penalties to prevent it.

So basically you have to ask (or try it first, then ask if it doesn't work).
