Hi we currently use Now SMS and are looking at creating an interface app between the source of the message and Now SMS. This app will be developed offshore thus they will not be able to connect to our Now SMS gateway. My question is this external company able to download the trial version and set Now SMS to be in a 'test' mode where no actual SMS's are sent but are written to a file.

Thanks for your help

Hi Paul,

What you can do in this type of scenario is define an HTTP SMSC connection in NowSMS.

You can point it to any web server, and it will be relatively harmless. NowSMS is just going to connect to the web server URL passing parameters that the web server will ignore.

It's best to do this with some sort of internal web server.

You can then look at the SMSOUT-yyyymmdd.LOG files to see the messages that were sent.

If you wanted to get sophisticated, you could have the HTTP SMSC interface point to a script on a web server where you simply logged the submissions.
