So right now I'm looking for a simple to setup and use MMS Gateway.

I am new to all this and was curious about NowSMS. In order to just have an MMS Gateway do I have to setup all the other stuff? A lot of it is confusing because there isn't really a lot of direction.

I have a few Blackberry phones that are not being allowed to send MMS for some reason, (no BIS account) and RIM told me it was because of not using BIS.

So I figured I'd set this up and use it if I can do it without other external resources, etc. Is there anyone here who has a complete to-do list on what I need to do to use a MMS Gateway for my phones?

Thanks.

Hi Shane,

NowSMS doesn't sounds like a solution for your problem.

Technically NowSMS can be used as an MMSC for a mobile phone to send and receive MMS messages through.

But for a variety of reasons it's not a good solution for an end-user in this type of configuration.

If you did try to use NowSMS in this type of configuration, you would need to reconfigure the Blackberry devices to use NowSMS as their MMSC. But this raises an interesting point ... if you could reconfigure the Blackberry to use NowSMS as its MMSC, then it would be much less headache for you to reconfigure the Blackberry to use the operator's MMSC settings.

I'm not an expert on how internet services work on the Blackberry, but I can't see a technical reason why BIS would be required for sending/receiving MMS. It may be a provisioning issue at the operator that they do not allow any GPRS data for a Blackberry without a BIS account.

I think you'd get the best help consulting with some Blackberry experts. www.blackberryforums.com is a good resource. If you post over there, be sure to tell them which mobile operator you are using as all of these types of settings and issues tend to be operator/carrier specific.

Good luck!
