Hi, I have been testing nowsms for a while. It had been working great however when we test with other number (XL, Indonesian number) we got a lot of "Message Downloaded" messages instead of the actual sms forwarded to our SMPP client. Can I know whether this is problem with NowSMS or problem with the SIM card ? Thanks,

Hi Johanes, That is very odd. I can tell you that the modem is definitely presenting a text message that says "Message downloaded." to NowSMS. There don't seem to be any unusual attributes to the message. If you move the SIM card from the modem to a phone, does the phone receive messages properly? I can't imagine why the modem would post a text message that says "Message downloaded." to NowSMS. But at least if you tried the SIM in a phone, you'd be able to see if the problem followed the SIM or was somehow specific to the modem. -- Des NowSMS Support

Hi Johanes, That is very very strange. There must be some attribute of the message that is causing the modem to become confused. I'd speculate that there is some unusual DCS or PID value associated with the message, and the modem thinks that the message is a SIM data download message. By the time the modem forwards the message to NowSMS, all that is left is the text "Message downloaded." (and the PID and DCS values are normal). The only things I can suggest are: 1.) Try updating the modem firmware, as maybe this is a bug that has been fixed. I believe the following link applies to your modem: http://www.sierrawireless.com/en/sitecore/content/Sierra%20Wireless/Support/Down loads/AirCard/USB_Modems/AirCard_USB_308.aspx 2.) Try a different modem -- Des NowSMS Support

Hi Des, Thanks for the reply. I believe we had the latest firmware. We contacted XL network support and they offered us to replace the SIM card and then it just suddenly works.

Hi Johanes, That is very interesting. I wouldn't have suspected the SIM since the problem didn't appear with the SIM in other device, but I guess it could be how the SIM interacted with the modem device. Interesting ... I won't be so quick to dismiss trying a different or replacement SIM. -- Des NowSMS Support |
