Hi, I'm wondering what's the limitation of NowSMS for sending sms if we already have a licence while sending and receiving through GSM modem ? The client is connecting to NowSMS using SMPP while NowSMS works with Sierra Wireless USB308 Thanks, | |||

Hi Johanes, NowSMS licenses are based upon maximum throughput, so the license may apply throttles to speed. Peak speed on a GSM modem can vary greatly depending on the modem, network operator, signal strength and operator load factors. I've heard tales of faster speeds, but the best I've seen is in the range of 1 message every 2 to 2-1/2 seconds (20 to 30 per minute). (My colleagues have told me about faster speeds that they've seen in the past, but it seems that most operators have turned off SMS over GPRS/packet network, which was what allowed the faster speeds.) If your NowSMS license is limiting your speed, and you want to get a better idea of what the max throughput is for your modem, you can get an idea by looking at the timestamps in the SMSOUT-yyyymmdd.LOG. If NowSMS message per minute limits are limiting you, you'll see a grouping of timestamps at the beginning of a minute, then a pause waiting for the minute to change. You can also contact our sales department (http://www.nowsms.com/contact.htm) to request a temporary license increase for testing and verification. -- Des NowSMS Support |
