Is it possible to use a different sender id and 'reply-to' id when sending a short message? New to this forum and apologize if this has been discussed already. Thanks. -Josh

Hi Josh, No, it is not. SMS size is very limited, there is no extra header support such as this. -- Des NowSMS Support

Thank you Des for your quick response. Understood, in that case how would a reply to alphanumeric sender address be treated? Will SMSC have to figure out reply address based on an internal table? -Josh

Hi Josh, Although there may be exceptions in some countries (which I do not know of), it is usually not possible to reply to alphanumeric sender addresses. They are considered broadcast only. When you see email to SMS gateways (usually in the US), the sender is a shortcode number that auto increments. An application manages a range of shortcodes to support replies. -- Des NowSMS Support |
