Hi everybody,

There is someting that I don't understand :

* To send a SMS from a phone :
Mobile -> SMSC -> Mobile

* To send a SMS from a server :
PI -> PPG -> Mobile
or (this is my 1st question ;^)
PI -> PPG -> SMSC -> Mobile

2. So where in the chain the Wap Push Gateway, SMS Gateway and Wap Gateway are ?
3. Wap Gateway is included on the PPG or SMSC ?
4. There is a difference on Wap and Proxy Push Gateway ?

thank you,
I'm a little lost on the mobile industry...

Hi yaco,
1£© if you just send a SMS to mobile terminal, the flow is SMS CP/SP->SMSC->Mobile. it is the SMS flow.
if what you want to know is about push. you should know there are two different way to push.

1. connectionless . PI->PPG->SMSC->Mobile
2.connection PI-PPG-Mobile
2.I don;t understand ur questin
3. WAP GW and PPG can be separate or together, SMS is a different totaly device
4. WAP GW is for WAP browseing, and PPG is only for Push.

thank you Comete, it's a little more clear for me now... wap and sms are separate.

in fact for the 2nd question I wonder if :
PI -> PPG -> SMS gateway -> SMSC -> mobile
or
if SMS gateway is the generic name for
PI -> PPG

if I'm right wap push gateway is for wap push
and proxy push gateway is only for sms push, not for wap pushing

Hi Comete,
Pls confirm my understanding, as I am new 2 WAP area. To PUSH a content to WAP client, a PushInitiator (PI) has 2 means.
1) Connectionless : wherein PI--(PAP/HTTP POST)-->PPG-->SMSC--(GPRS paging procedure)->Client
2) COnnection Oriented : Where in PI--(PAP)-->PPG--(WAP Session/WAP OTA)-->Client.

If i understand rightly, in case(1), a SMS is sent to user, and there on he can chose to view the page by selecting the URL, which will establish a WAP session to the PPG and he gets the MMS content.
In case(2), a WAP session is initiated directly without alerting and the page is downloaded to the user.
BTW, does case(1) is "SI" type of PUSH
and case(2) is "SL" type of PUSH ??

Thanks in advance,
Venki.
