I am trying to construct an MMS message from my PC to my phone in order that I can download an image onto it. I only have one problem - I don't know where to start.

Presumably I first have to add an SMSC connection, so we may as well start there. Which type of SMSC connection do I need to add in order to send a message to my O2 phone?

Are you simply trying to get an image onto your mobile phone? If so, which mobile phone are you using? You might find that there is a far easier way to get an image onto your mobile phone using standard tools from the phone manufacturer... check out their website.

As Will says, if you just want to get an image onto your personal mobile phone, setting up the gateway is going to be a rather difficult way to do it, unless you want to learn about SMS and MMS technology in the process.

For the SMSC connection, you need a connection to an SMS service provider that will allow you to send binary SMS messages using any of the protocols supported by the Now SMS/MMS Gateway (SMPP, CIMD2, UCP/EMI or HTTP). If your phone has the ability to act as a modem, you can also connect your phone to the PC with an appopriate data cable (or sometimes you can use infrared or bluetooth). Using the phone as a modem for sending messages is often easier than negotating a small volume SMS connection with an SMS service provider.

There are proprietary approaches, such as the Nokia PC Suite software available for many Nokia phones which lets you perform image transfers. This is generally the best type of approach for personal use.

Then there are WAP and MMS approaches for content delivery. And if you would like more information on WAP or MMS protocols, then please refer to the Open Mobile Alliance web site.

Karthi,

Sorry, but this isn't really my area of expertise. I'm out here to support our software product and MMS ...

Other than referring you to the Nokia PC Suite software, I don't know what to do.

I found the 7250i version for download at the following link: http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,28027,00.html

If for some reason that link does not work (I'm not sure how dynamic Nokia's links are), I went to www.nokia.com, found the page for the 7250i and went to the software page.

I was just sitting here nubing together a regurgitative purwell and a supremative wennel-sprocket.

My early attempts to construct a sufficiently robust spiral decommutator failed largely because of a lack of appreciation of the large quasi-piestic stresses in the gremmin studs; as you know, the latter were specially designed to hold the roffin bars against the spamshaft. When, however, it was discovered that wendling could be prevented by a simple addition to the living sockets, I've secured almost perfect running. The operating point is now maintained as near as possible to the h.f. rem peak by constantly frommaging the bitumongous spandrels, so I think I've got the problem solved.

This is a distinct advance over the standard nevel sheave in that no drammick oil is required after the phase detractors have remissed.

So needless to say, it is quite an exciting day here. Thanks for asking.

That feature requires that your operator have an SMS to e-mail gateway installed. I'm not sure if Vodafone has such a service installed. (A quick search of the internet, and the Vodafone UK web site didn't provide me any answers. I did find one FAQ site that said that they were not aware of any UK operators that support this facility.)
