I am new to MMS and want to develop my own application to send MMS with animated images through the operator. (1) Is there any open source MMS gateway I can make use of? If yes, what is the advantage of Now SMS/MMS over them ? (2) What protocol is using to communicate with operator? Thank you for your help.

for MMS should use MM7,SMTP protocols ericsson has some java API's. for MM7 standard go to:www.ericsson.com/mobilityworld for SMS, check SMPPAPI an open source project from sourceForge good info here: http://smsforum.net/smpp_tools.html Logica has it's own open source java API: http://opensmpp.logica.com

I'm not sure what the open source MMS gateway is that is being referred to here, so I cannot offer any comparison of it to the Now SMS/MMS Gateway. Of course, the Now SMS/MMS Gateway is available for download as a free trial (evaluation) version from this web site, so you can always download it yourself and make any comparisons. Of course, you'll probably also want to ask us questions, as there are quite a few features that are not always obvious. Regarding "segmentation and re-assembling" (SAR), this is only indirectly related to MMS. SAR is implemented by WAP gateways, not an MMSC. It is defined as part of the WAP WSP specification ... and basically MMS clients that use the WAP WSP protocol stack (which is most current MMS clients), expect to use SAR to send/receive larger MMS messages through a WAP gateway. If you require a WAP gateway that supports SAR, you can use our Now.WAP Proxy, of which an evaluation version is available for download from http://www.nowwap.com. Now.WAP also supports WAP 2.0 clients that use the W-HTTP protocol instead of WSP. -bn |
