Hi,

Does anybody has an idea if the same URI can have several different types of data. Like having a wml page today for a URI and change it to html after few days for the same URI.

BTW, can anybody tell me the exact difference b/w a URI and URL. I am confused with the explaination given in http spec.

Thanx in advance

Assuming that the URL points to a script that dynamically generates content, it could be different every time you access it.

Some sites try to determine whether to use WML or HTML based upon the request that they receive. Some sites look at the "User-Agent:" string to guess about which type of content to display ... others look to see if "text/vnd.wap.wml" is in the "Accept:" header.

As for URI vs. URL, try reading these documents:

http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2396.txt
http://www.w3.org/TR/uri-clarification/

I just read those documents, and while I believe the author of the RFC sees a difference between the two. For us mere mortals that do not live in adademia, the terms appear to be interchangeable. (Technically, URL appears to be a subset of URI, but I'd like to see an example of a URI that is not a URL in order to be convinced that the terms are not interchangeable.)
